Method for use:

The neon fabric dyes can be used on cotton, linen, viscose, nylon and lycra.  There are other instructions to follow for dyeing wool and silk please see below.

To obtain the best neon colour use white fabric material.

The 8oz fabric dye will dye 250g of dry fabric weight.

During dyeing always wear rubber gloves and avoid contact with skin and eyes, if contact occurs, then rinse and wash off with warm water.

  •  Wash fabric before dyeing to remove any products or stains not visible to the eye.  Leave the fabric slightly damp.
  • Fill a rust and heat proof vessel with sufficient water to cover the fabric and allow easy movement during the dyeing process.
  • Pierce tin of the dye with a knife.  Dissolve contents thoroughly in 500ml/1 pint of boiling water.
  • Add 30g/1oz salt per tin of dye and sir well to dissolve.
  • Put in damp, unfolded fabric.  Bring to simmer and then dye for 20 minutes, stirring constantly to ensure even coverage.
  • Rinse fabric until water runs clear.  Dry away from direct heat and sunlight.

For dyeing wool and silk – follow steps 1 – 4.

  • Put in damp, unfolded fabric.  Bring slowly to simmer and reduce heat at once.  Stir gently for 10 minutes.
  • Remove article from dye and allow to cool before rinsing in lukewarm water, until the water runs clear.  Dry away from direct heat and sunlight.

Note:  These dyes are not suitable for machine/twin tub dyeing.
