Everyone should be careful to avoid being given or handling counterfeit notes.
There are many and varied security features incorporated into most currencies, many of which are revealed under ultra violet light, but it's not always possible to appreciate their relevance.
However it is easy to recognise the special cotton/fibre based paper used for bank notes. Unlike ordinary paper it does not fluoresce (glow) when exposed to ultra violet light. If the bank note paper fluoresces then you should reject the note and report it to the police.
